Resource Overallocation Part 3 – Leveling Options

Microsoft Project provides many options for resolving overallocation at the Project, Task, Resource and Assignment levels of the Microsoft Project Data Model. In this Milestone Minute we will point out four locations for accessing options that can be used for resolving overallocation. In future Milestone Minutes we will explore each option and add a few more.

At the Project level of the data model, an entire project can be moved by navigating to the Project tab, Schedule group, and selecting Move Project as shown in the following illustration:

At the Task level of the data model, a task can be moved by navigating to the Task tab, Tasks group, and selecting Move as shown in the following illustration:

At the Resource level of the data model, a specific resource(s) can be leveled by navigating to the Resource tab, Level group, and selecting Level Resource as shown in the following illustration:

At the Assignment level of the data model, an assignment can be moved by navigating to the View tab, Resource Views group, and selecting Team Planner as shown in the following illustration:

Please note the Team Planner view is not included in Microsoft Project Standard.
