Resource Overallocation Part 2 – Managing Red

When overallocation occurs, a decision needs to be made regarding the management of it. From the Gantt Chart view, it can be difficult to determine if action needs to be taken to resolve overallocation as shown in the following illustration:

From the Resource Usage view, however, it is much easier to determine if action needs to be taken to resolve overallocation.

Example 1: action should be taken to resolve the overallocation shown in the following illustration:

Red happens! In each organization a process should be clearly defined instructing project managers as to when action should be taken to resolve overallocation.
